Intro
My name is Agnes Coaker and this is my page,I'll update it at least once a month (or try to), so there's always some new stuff to read.On this page there will be things on my fathers farm, it'll always be changing,so enjoy it or at least don't laugh to loud at it.

Garden

It seems this year that the grow your own bug has really hit the nation but with a load of peaty soil and permenent semi-shade how is my family getting on?

the answer is we have brought some seed potatoes some garlic and courgette seeds (we tried a yellow variety last year but they were very small) my strawberries in pot have got a couple of nice red strawberries comin and the corylus avellana contorta (or twisted hazel for those of us who aren't fluent in latin) is getting on reasonably well out of the pot! Thats the one thing that bugs me about the grow your own drive its all on vegtables but nothing on nut or fruit trees (like the apricot, which apparently can survive to -30oc) ,(it wouldn't survive at our house then!). Okay maybe it wasn't that bad this winter but it still got pretty cold (litterally as in 3 inches of ice on any troughs you didn't de-ice with an axe!) Despite a rough winter the plants are flourishing and the vegtables? Here goes nothing!

Me
I like the colour purple, before I say anything let me apologise for any spelling mistakes I will/already have made, my favourite animal is a wolf (or a tiger depending on my mood).I live on
dartmoor with my father Anton,my mother Alison,my brother John and my sister Polly .The farm
we live on is medium sized and seems to get more boring every day(from a thirteen year old teenage girls point of view any way). We have five dogs; Becks (when she was a puppy a friend of ours drank a bit to much Becks,
hence the name) Fly (small arthritic deaf and probably gonna get run over any day soon but sweet), Gyp (loves to round up sheep... without my father), Meg sadly got run over but she had a good life.Tiger(young, but learning[slowly]), Milly [probably the most stupid dog ever to exist also know as the living rug]. Not forgetting patch my grandmothers jack russel/chiwawa pointy eared terrier called poppy(last and definetly least).

So now I've got another fad a free website (http://random-bites.weebly.com) it's so cool but then I'll probably have forgotten about it in a couple of weeks so I'd better make the most of it whilst my interest last's!

Becks & gyp!!!

Farm
The farm we live on is fifteen hundred acres big,
which is a large farm for dartmoor. We have cows, sheep, dogs, chickens[a full 5ish breeds] and dartmoor ponies.

My mother and father have both helped to set up a Riggit Galloway society (www.riggitgallowaycattlesociety), a riggit being a very rare type of cattle, there being only fifty to sixty breeding cows in the whole UK,however they were not in immediate danger as some countries as Canada and Germany and brazil (yeah you won't catch all the eggs in one basket here!). They also make great burgers/mince/assorted bits of beef and lovely hair on hide rugs (

My cows are Angus's I only have 4(one original heifer, a daughter of hers, a 2009 boy calf, for sale, and another 2009 calf, a girl)
My sheep (and I don't mean that as in the plural sheep, I mean one full suffolk and two half bred hogs)are Suffolks (there used to be more but, shall we say they arn't particually suited to where we live)

lambing and calving is pretty much over a few foals still to come but thats it.
